From
1762 to 1775, Prince Nicolas Esterhazy called 'the Magnificent'
, had a boundless passion for a strange instrument : the
Baryton or Viola di Bordone. The Master of his chapel started
to work on the task to compose continuously and even took
to learning to play the baryton, to the irritation of his
shrew of a wife.
Although
the Esterhaza castle has seen several fires, more than 126
divertimenti for Baryton have survived. This recording gives
you the opportunity to discover a few of these pearls
